Description

We are delighted to present Mustard, a beautifully maintained 27ft Colvic Craft, originally built in 1980 and cherished by the current owner for the past 28 years. During this time she has proved herself to be an exceptionally capable and reliable cruising vessel, undertaking extensive voyages around the South and East coasts of England, the tidal and non-tidal River Thames, the River Medway, the Bristol Channel, English Channel crossings and even the French canal network.
Constructed with the renowned Colvic GRP hull, complemented by an attractive teak and iroko superstructure, Mustard offers the traditional craftsmanship and solid sea-keeping qualities for which these boats are highly regarded. Built by respected Worcester boatbuilder Thomas Preen, she features twin bilge keels, allowing her to safely take the ground in drying harbours such as Rye and Margate, greatly expanding her cruising versatility.
The accommodation is both practical and comfortable, comprising twin V-berths forward, a spacious saloon with dinette converting into an additional double berth, a bright wheelhouse with galley, together with a shower and sea toilet, making her well suited to extended cruising or weekends afloat.
Mechanically, the vessel has benefited from significant investment, having been re-engined in 2015 with a Beta Marine 50HP diesel engine, which has completed only approximately 160 hours of use. She is well equipped for coastal and offshore navigation with VHF radio, AIS, GPS, log and echo sounder, together with both CQR and Danforth anchors, manual windlass and full navigation lighting. Additional equipment includes generous fuel and water tank capacities, calorifier-fed hot water, shower, holding tank, electric and manual bilge pumps, making her ready to cruise immediately.
The current owner has maintained the vessel to a high standard, with the most recent haul-out completed in 2025 for pressure washing and fresh antifouling. She also benefits from a Boat Safety Certificate valid until September 2027 and low annual third-party insurance costs of approximately £150.
Adding to her already impressive pedigree, Mustard formed part of the Dunkirk Little Ships spectator fleet during the commemorations in both 2000 and 2005 and was honoured to be selected to participate in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee River Pageant on the River Thames in 2012.
Offering timeless character, proven cruising ability and an exceptional ownership history, Mustard presents a rare opportunity to acquire a much-loved and extensively travelled Colvic cruiser that is equally at home exploring inland waterways, coastal passages or cross-Channel adventures.
