Learn About The Area

Egham is a Bronze Age university town made famous for the sealing of the Magna Carta in 1215 on the nearby Runnymede meadow. 

 

Egham has a number of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as the beautiful Strode’s College and nearby Royal Holloway University, which is renowned for its striking gothic architecture. The nearby hill of Englefield Green houses the Commonwealth Airforces Memorial with fantastic views over the Surrey hills, Windsor and London. Egham also boasts a close proximity to the Royal Estate of Virginia Water and Wentworth, the world famous European home of the PGA golfing tournament. 

 

Sporting in the area can be found through Egham Town football club, Egham cricket club and Egham fencing club, as well as a rowing club. While the community takes part in the Egham Royal Show every August, celebrating horticultural and agricultural themes.

 

With a short drive to Heathrow Airport, Egham also has a railway station on the railway lines from London Waterloo station to Reading and Weybridge, and bus routes to nearby Staines-upon-Thames and Windsor.
